Elf on Whose Shelf?

Tis the season to Shop Local!

Ever heard of Elf on a Shelf? This season there is a special downtown business Elf that has journeyed to various businesses causing mischief.  This Elf wants all to know how great local, independently owned businesses are–and he’s offering an incentive to come downtown!

Beginning Tuesday, December 10th through Thursday morning, December 19th, you will have a chance to win at least 2 $20 gift cards to restaurant and retail establishments.

Watch FACEBOOK for the latest places Elf heads to.  Go to a participating business, mention the Facebook post, enter your name into a bucket, and you will be entered to win gift cards.  There will be 5 winners of at least 2 gift cards each.

Names will be drawn on December 19th to give you those last 5 days to shop before Christmas!

Hint: (here’s a list of participating businesses–Elf will let you enter your name at any IF you’ve been being good and viewing the Facebook pictures…)
Extra Hint: You can enter your name twice if you go to the business the same day the business is on Facebook.

Get Ready for Tour d' Burg once again on Sunday, July 17th!

The excitement of the Tour de France returns to historic downtown Miamisburg. The 2011 Tour d’ Burg, will feature top criterium riders competing in USA Cycling sanctioned races on a one-mile circuit featuring long straights for speed and drafting, and six turns for skill. Additional races throughout the day will accommodate local racers of all ages.

Tour d’ Burg registration will open soon.

Linden Avenue Public Meeting

Within record time, Central Avenue has received a major facelift.  There is still more to come for Central Avenue-including light poles, landscaping, and striping.  The final pieces of Central Avenue are estimated to be complete sometime this spring.

Once Central is complete, thanks to grant funding, the  City can upgrade sections of Linden Avenue, another main artery coming through downtown.  There are many details yet to be worked out regarding timing, detour routes, etc.

However, there will be a Public Informational Meeting on Thursday, February 9th from 6-8 PM at the City Building’s Community Room.  The public will continue to be informed throughout this process.  For any questions, please call 847-6531.

Local Restaurants will showcase at Friday's Taste of Miamisburg

Taste of Miamisburg will be held at Riverfront Park in downtown Miamisburg this Friday, May 20th. A variety of delicious foods will be offered by local food vendors. Entertainment begins at 6:00 p.m. with Larry Goodwin. The Bourbon Lakes Band will follow from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

New Summer 2012 Art Gallery

Enjoy a flavor of local artists in downtown Miamisburg! There will be a series of 3 special “pop-up” art galleries coming this summer. Each show will have an opening reception from 5-9pm and will then continue with standard open hours for the next few weeks.

SHOW ONE
June 15 to July 5

This first show features Mike Elsass, Color of Energy, Oregon District, Larry Faulkner with urban photography, and Ron Rollins with abstract expressionist paintings.

This second show features the artists of The Fine Art Center of Town and Country.

This third show wraps up the Summer Arts series with a focus on Miamisburg. Mike Elsass, Color of Energy, will be showcasing the art he has been creating all summer in the 3rd story of the American Health and Fitness historic building. A special documentary video created by Jeremy Dempe will feature the arts in downtown Miamisburg. Larry Faulkner will highlight his urban photography-a look at downtown Miamisburg through the camera lens.
